A graphic designer not limited to graphic design? Interested in how that looks? Check out the work and find out.
Like many jobs it involves a broad range of tasks and skills. Most commercial graphic designers work within the marketing and communications sector and offer services like:
Day-to-day a graphic designer may do project research, sketch ideas and concepts, prepare updates and presentations for clients, ready artwork for print, work with other creative freelancers or businesses on a project, or send final logo design / artwork files to clients.
And that doesn’t include all the tasks that keep a design studio afloat: accounts, advertising, promotion, etc.
There are many graphic designers for hire, and just as many factors that go into picking the right one for your project. First and foremost: look at the work.
Most designers and design studios have a style and a specialism, and it makes sense to go with a designer or design studio with a style that matches what you’re looking for, or projects that fit your needs. If you need web design and can’t see a web design project in their portfolio, they may not be the business for this project.
Beyond that look at their values, process, and pricing to see if they fit your way of working and budget. If they feel like a good option for your graphic design project, give them a call or an email – we’re a friendly bunch and love to chat design.
Brand design is a broad term that covers more than graphic design. In the context of a graphic design a brand designer will usually be focused on an organisation’s visual identity.
This is a broad range of areas a brand designer may work on in a single project. A core part of their role will be maintaining consistency across the different channels and platforms.
An AI logo maker may be good for inspiration, but will often lack the attention to detail that an experienced graphic designer brings to a project. They give you speed of thought rather than depth of thought. They also won’t necessarily look at how unique the logo is in your marketplace.
Rather than use an AI logo maker I’d suggest using an AI platform to find your immediate competitors, analyse their websites and compile their logos so you can see how best to stand out in your market place. Supplying this information to a graphic designer as part of their process will really set you up for some great, unique work.
First check that they offer the services you need. In the case of DC Design Works that’s logo design, brand identity design, communications and advertising design. If their services match your needs either call them directly, or send a website enquiry.
Often a web enquiry with a few project details followed by a call is the best route as it answers a few of the designers initial questions.
